Files shared in Slack are convenient in the moment but difficult to find later. Slack's search can surface messages, but files buried in channels expire on free plans and are scattered across hundreds of conversations without any organizational structure. Meanwhile, Google Drive sits mostly empty of the assets that were shared in Slack because moving files from Slack to Drive requires manual downloading and uploading.
GAIA connects Slack and Google Drive so files flow between them automatically. When a file is uploaded to a Slack channel, GAIA saves it to the correct Drive folder, named consistently and organized by channel, project, or date. When a teammate asks for a Drive file in Slack, GAIA can retrieve and share the link instantly. Auto-save Slack channel uploads to Drive folders
Every file uploaded to designated Slack channels is automatically saved by GAIA to the corresponding Google Drive folder. Design assets shared in #design go to the Design Assets Drive folder, project documents in #project-x go to that project's Drive folder, and so on — without anyone having to manually move files.
Retrieve Drive files from Slack with natural language
Ask GAIA in Slack 'share the Q2 marketing brief from Drive' and GAIA searches your Drive, finds the document, and posts the shareable link directly in the channel — eliminating the need to switch to Drive, search, and copy the link back to Slack.
Drive file update notifications in Slack
When a key Google Drive document is updated — a shared brief, a contract, or a live dashboard — GAIA posts a notification in the relevant Slack channel with a direct link to the updated file so the team is always working from the latest version.
Slack message to Drive document
When a Slack thread contains a completed discussion, decision, or meeting notes, GAIA can convert it into a properly formatted Google Doc saved to the team Drive, making it searchable and shareable beyond the Slack channel.
Drive folder briefs shared to Slack
At the start of a project, GAIA can share a structured summary of a Drive project folder to the relevant Slack channel — listing key documents, recent updates, and important files — so the whole team has a quick reference without navigating Drive.

Connect Slack and Google Drive to GAIA
Authorize GAIA in your Slack workspace and connect your Google account for Drive access. Specify which Slack channels should have file auto-save enabled and which Drive folders they should map to.

Set your file routing and notification preferences
Define which Slack channels map to which Drive folders, what naming conventions to apply to saved files, and which Drive events should trigger Slack notifications. You can set different rules for different file types.
