Microsoft Teams is the enterprise communication standard for organizations running on Microsoft 365, and Jira is the enterprise issue tracker of choice for software teams. Despite how often they're used together, keeping Teams informed of Jira progress requires either manual posting or a limited built-in connector that lacks contextual formatting and intelligent routing.

GAIA provides a richer Jira-Teams integration. Sprint summaries, blocker alerts, release notifications, and high-priority issue escalations are posted to the right Teams channels with structured, readable formatting. GAIA posts a morning sprint status digest to the engineering Teams channel showing yesterday's completions, today's planned work, and any open blockers requiring immediate attention.

When a Jira ticket is raised to Blocker or Critical priority, GAIA posts an alert to the team's Teams channel and tags the assignee and engineering lead for immediate response.

When a Jira sprint or version is released, GAIA posts a formatted release announcement to the designated Teams channel listing all resolved issues, suitable for sharing with business stakeholders.

Jira queries answered in Teams

Stakeholders can ask GAIA in Teams — 'What's the status of the payments project?' or 'Is the login bug fixed yet?' — and receive an accurate, real-time answer sourced from Jira.

New issue assignment notifications

When a Jira issue is assigned to a team member, GAIA sends them a Teams message with the issue summary, priority, due date, and sprint assignment so they're immediately aware of new work.

    Authenticate your Jira instance and install the GAIA app in your Microsoft Teams organization. Map Jira projects to the Teams channels where notifications should be delivered.

    Define which Jira events generate Teams notifications — issue assignments, priority escalations, sprint events, deployments — and configure the format and routing for each event type.

    GAIA notifies Teams and responds to queries

    GAIA monitors Jira continuously and posts structured notifications to Teams in real time. Team members can also query GAIA directly within Teams for live Jira project status.
